Ground floor is the answer we give most often when a family asks which villa to book. There are no stairs with a sleeping toddler or a week of luggage, the car is steps from the door, and the lanai opens onto lawn where children can play within sight of the sofa. It is also the right call for anyone who would simply rather not climb, and for a stay long enough that the walk in and out happens many times a day.

Our ground level suites sit in the ocean-facing rows. The Makai Suite in building 14 is on the shoreline itself, above the lava rock with the Ocean Club a short walk away. The Ānuenue Suite in building 8 and the Nalu Suite in building 10 look across the fairways to the water. Upper villas buy elevation on the view, which matters most in these rows, so it is a fair trade to weigh; our building-by-building guide lays it out.

Questions about these suites

Are ground floor units at Hali'i Kai wheelchair accessible?

We do not describe any suite as accessible or ADA compliant. Ground floor villas have no stairs to the front door, but thresholds, bathrooms, and lanai doors vary from unit to unit. Tell our concierge what you need and we will describe the specific suite honestly before you book.

Which floor plans are on the ground floor?

The B and C floor plans, interior two bedroom, two bath villas of 1,081 square feet, sit at ground level in every building. Some other positions also open at ground level; the suite pages list the level for each of ours.

Is the ground floor noisier?

You are closer to the footpaths, so you notice neighbors passing more than an upper villa does. In exchange the lanai works as an extra room, with lawn right outside where children can play within sight.

Which Polu Resorts suites are ground floor?

The Makai Suite (14C) on the ocean front row, the Anuenue Suite (8B) with ocean and golf views, and the Nalu Suite (10H) in the same ocean view row.
