Golf at Waikoloa Beach Resort

A manicured golf fairway winding between black lava and the blue Pacific

Two acclaimed courses wind through black lava, green fairways, and ocean views right at the resort, some of the most scenic golf in the islands, minutes from your door.

Golf on the Kohala Coast is a study in contrast: emerald fairways cut through jet-black lava, with the Pacific flashing between the palms. The Waikoloa Beach Resort courses, the Beach Course and the Kings’ Course, sit right beside Hali’i Kai, and more championship layouts are minutes away at Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea.

Mornings are calmest, before the trade winds pick up. We know the courses and can help you get out early, sort out clubs, and line up a run of them if golf is the reason for the trip.

Good to know

Which course should we play?

The Beach Course and the Kings' Course are both right by Hali'i Kai, and more championship layouts sit minutes away at Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea. Tell us your handicap and what you are after, and we can help you line up tee times and clubs to match.

How far ahead should we book a tee time?

In high season we suggest booking about one to two weeks ahead, as prime morning slots fill fast. Our concierge can help you line up prime slots and set up a run of courses if golf is the reason for the trip.

Can we rent clubs, or should we bring our own?

Rental sets are available at the courses, so there is no need to fly your clubs over unless you prefer your own. Let us know your hand and whether you would like a cart, and we can help you arrange it.

Is there a dress code?

Yes, collared shirts and proper golf or soft-spike shoes are the norm, and many courses ask that you avoid gym shorts or swimwear. When in doubt, resort golf attire will see you right.

What is the best time of day to play?

Early morning tee times are calmest and coolest, before the afternoon trade winds pick up across the lava. Mornings also give you the clearest ocean light, so we tend to book the first waves of the day.
